WBW Solicitors is supporting the Chagford Show again this year – just as it has done every summer since 1983.
Although WBW Solicitors no longer has an office in Chagford, ties remain very strong and staff at the Bovey Tracey office are always in easy reach.
Clients are loyal and, of course, Robert Sampson, so strongly associated with that office, has only just retired from WBW and still lives in the town.
WBW Solicitors has supported the Horticultural tent at the 116-year-old show without a break for 33 years. That commitment illustrates the deep roots WBW Solicitors has with the South Devon community it has served since 1831.
“That heritage means, in practical terms, at WBW Solicitors we have a good understanding of farming in the locality,” said partner David Charlesworth, who heads up the farms and estates department.
“We have a group of solicitors, across the practice, who use their individual areas of expertise, property, partnerships, tax planning, farming work, contract and compliance – with planning or Health and Safety regulation – regularly in the context of a farm business.”
“We also have a food and drink team and offer a mediation service to try to head off problems in marriages or partnerships from becoming irretrievable.”
“There can be few country shows as attractive as the Chagford Show,” he said.
“The setting is Devon at its finest, the character is local, crowds don’t swamp you and local farming and country activities and produce are to the fore – not AGAs and hot tubs.”
“Dartmoor and its surroundings offer a uniquely distinct way of life; nothing comes easy; there have always been challenges; no one will grow rich farming on the moor but there is a fine way of life to be lived which people cherish, and which cannot readily be found elsewhere in a very complex and overcrowded world.”
Mr Charlesworth will be at the show on August 18 with members of the WBW Solicitors team looking forward to meeting old and new clients, sharing a glass of wine and a snack with them and enjoying the special atmosphere of the day.
