As a leading legal practice in South Devon, we have proven our community spirit is alive and well by raising over £2,400 to support the annual Make A Will Week of vital Torquay-based Rowcroft Hospice.
The week-long campaign ran from May 20-26 and organisers hope to beat the £23,000 raised last year for the centre. The hospice are still collecting the cheques and hope to have a grand total by August.
Solicitors for WBW Solicitors re-wrote and updated Wills in return for a donation to the hospice, which is based on Avenue Road, Torquay.
Catherine Causey, Partner and Head of Private Client Services at WBW, said: “It was fantastic to be involved once again in this event which raises vital funds to provide the very best palliative and end of life care to patients as well as much-needed support for their families.
“I think people underestimate the importance of a valid wills and sudden changes in families, whether that’s through marriage or death, have a huge impact on their next of kin.”
“We are grateful for everybody who has supported us during the campaign and we look forward to raising many more thousands of pounds in the future.”
The suggested minimum donations were £100 for a single Will and £150 for a pair of mirror Wills. For more complicated Wills or those that require specialist advice, fees were agreed in advance.
Only half of Britons have made a Will and half of those have never updated it. After major life changes such as getting married, having children or moving house, it is important to ensure you have an up-to-date Will.
Rachael MacLoughlin, Make a Will Week organiser, said: “Although we don’t yet have a final total for the amount raised, the feedback so far from our participating solicitors has been very positive.
“Rowcroft Hospice rely on the generosity of our local community and businesses, so we are very grateful for the support of WBW Solicitors for taking part in Make a Will Week during it’s 4th year.’
We are proud to have supported Make a Will Week again in 2013!
