Here at WBW we value every one of our team members. Each member of staff has their own stories, motivations and reasons why they enjoy working for WBW.
So we’ve decided to post a series of questions and answers with a staff member from one of our 6 offices.
Today we talk to Gill Bratcher, Conveyancer in our Torquay Office.
What made you decide to go into law?
My route into law was not conventional. I left school at 16 with little qualifications and started working as an office junior at a law firm in London where I grew up. I loved it and had aspirations to be a legal secretary which I eventually become during my time at that firm. I then moved with my family to Devon and started working at WBW for Tracey Pearce. She was an amazing mentor and gave me the confidence and guidance to re-train and go back to education later in life. I have since been working as a property lawyer for the last 15 years.
What’s special about the way WBW works?
WBW are a very approachable and no client is unimportant or insignificant to us.
Why do you enjoy your particular field?
I get immense pleasure from playing my part in getting someone into their dream home. I see the job from start to finish and have a very personal relationship with my clients.
What have been the most interesting developments in your industry during 2016?
The pace and speed at which matters progress largely due to the latest technology in our industry.
What’s the biggest misconception people have about your profession?
That we take too long to deal with matters particularly in conveyancing, when in actual fact there is a process and steps we have to go through before we can achieve completion.
I once came first in an egg painting competition at primary school. I have not won anything else since!
Thanks Gill! Fingers crossed you win the next competition you enter!
