WBW Solicitors is pleased to announce the development of a relationship with Signed, Sealed and Delivered (S S & D) Newton Abbot, one of the longest-established conveyancing practices in the country.

S S & D Licensed Conveyancers was one of the first conveyancing practices set up more than 30 years ago when regulations regarding property sales were relaxed.

About S S & D

Pat Pedley, who founded the company,  worked in the conveyancing department for a firm of solicitors, but felt something was lacking.

S S & D was set up by Mrs Pedley to fill what she saw as a gap in the market for customer-focused conveyancing at a competitive price.

Thirty years later Mrs Pedley’s son Damien feels WBW Solicitors are the right partner to continue the work of his late mother, who died suddenly last month at the age of 72.

“My mother felt there was not enough emphasis on customer service and felt she could do better. Licensed conveyancers were very new then and my mother was one of the first in the country to qualify.”” said Damien.

“She must have done something right as 30 years later customers keep coming back when they sell their houses. We have customers who have left the area and still use our services, even though it would be easier for them to deal with someone local. Only recently we had a call from an old customer in Essex asking us to act for them.”

“That is the level of service we have been proud to offer and one I feel WBW Solicitors will be able to continue. WBW Solicitors are a local firm run by local people, we have customers in Torbay, Newton Abbot and Exeter – all places where WBW Solicitors have offices. It is a good fit.”

‘”This development has come at a difficult time as my mum died unexpectedly but has been handled very professionally by Steve Bulman and his staff at WBW Solicitors. If that is an example of service WBW Solicitors offer, I feel they are the right people to carry on my mother’s business.”

It may have been the late Mrs Pedley’s business, but Damien has been part of it since he was a child.

“When I was six or seven I drew a picture of a quill pen and that became our logo.” said Damien, who is transferring across with the business to WBW Solicitors’ offices in Queen Street. “When mum started the business it was my job to go round putting S S & D fliers through letterboxes.”

How to contact S S & D

Although the day-to-day running of S S & D is now through WBW Solicitors office, existing customers can continue using S S & D phone numbers and emails during the changeover period.

Steve Bulman, Managing Partner at WBW Solicitors Newton Abbot office, said “We are glad to have been able to help Damien keep his mother’s work going and look forward to welcoming him into the WBW Solicitors team.”
