WBW Solicitor’s Private Client department are delighted to have teamed up with local animal rescue charity, Animals in Distress, to offer their supporters 10% off writing a Will. Charities nationwide rely on the generosity of the public, one form of which can be to leave a gift within their Will, known as a legacy. We work closely with many national charities but with the community at the very heart of our business, we wanted to ensure support of local charities as well. The relationship with Animals in Distress began when one of our Partners adopted a wonderful dog, Daisy, earlier in 2017. Daisy was at the rescue centre for a few months before going to her new home, where she has become an integral part of the family. Daisy was incredibly well looked after whilst at the centre and without Animals in Distress, who knows what the future may have looked like for Daisy… The Private Client team visited the shelter for an insight into the incredible work that Animals in Distress does for animals of all shapes and sizes. The centre cares for hundreds of dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs every year, all of whom receive the best possible care. Animals in Distress has 10 charity shops across a number of locations in South Devon. Everyone involved with Animals in Distress is passionate about improving the lives of homeless pets across South Devon. They take them in, care for them and find them the perfect new family. It costs the charity over £1.5 million each year and a small army of dedicated staff and volunteers to keep the rescue centre going – without public support and donations this wouldn’t be possible. Animals in Distress still have a lot to do and lots more animals to help so together we hope to be able to support them in their mission. In 2014, a generous gift was left by a lady in her Will which helped the charity to build a large state-of-the-art cattery & sensory garden. This cattery can house up to 80 cats and kittens, and has a special maternity wing and isolation unit for poorly cats. By leaving a gift in your Will to Animals in Distress, it helps them to continue to provide the best possible care for the animals and find them their forever homes. Nicola Moorhouse, Fundraising Manager for Animals in Distress, said: “Everyone across the charity is delighted to be working with WBW Solicitors to offer our supporters a discounted Will writing service. Legacies form a vital proportion of the charity’s income. They not only help to cover our day to day costs but have enabled us to realise some of our bigger aspirations in the form of a new cattery and sensory garden as well as a much improved rabbit and guinea pig building…what wonderful gifts they were!” If you are a supporter of Animals in Distress, we are offering 10% off our Will writing services.
