Here at WBW, we value every one of our team members. Each member of staff has their own stories, motivations and reasons why they enjoy working for WBW Solicitors.

Today we talk to Marie Moore, an Associate in the Property team in our Launceston office.

What is your role at WBW and what area of law do you specialise in?

I am an Associate Licensed Conveyancer based in the Launceston office. I am a Property Lawyer and predominantly do residential work, including freehold and leasehold, transfers of equity, mortgages and equity release.

What did you want to be when you were young?

I have always had a passion for drama and wanted to be in the West End on stage in a musical.

What was your first full-time job?

I worked for a local firm of Solicitors as an office junior, running errands, doing the photocopying and making teas and coffees.

What made you decide to practice property law?

Initially, I was a secretary in private client and also family, but then started working as a secretary in property and decided I would quite like to start studying.

What do you like the most about the town you work in?

It is a small community where everyone knows someone.

What has been the best moment in your career?

Obtaining my Licence in 2009 after passing all my exams, some with merit and distinction, which I felt very proud of. Now is when you complete that tricky matter which has been going on for a while and you feel a great sense of achievement.

What are your top tips for clients?

We aim to provide a quality service to clients, but sometimes there are hiccups along the way for one reason or another. We understand moving home can be very stressful (I have done it several times myself) so we know how you are feeling.

What has been the most challenging part of your career?

Client expectations are high, but unfortunately, some things are out of our control. The biggest delay is currently with the Land Registry.

What’s the biggest misconception people have about your profession?

It takes time to deal with some issues on a file, and most of the time we are waiting on another party to assist.

Just for fun…

I love to go on long walks with my two dogs.

What’s your favourite holiday destination? Or If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

Walt Disney World in Florida, I have been 8 times and now have a child who also loves rollercoasters. I would still choose to live in Cornwall, well on the Devon and Cornwall border, as I technically live in Devon at the moment.

If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?

My mum (as she is sadly no longer with me) or as I do love music Whitney Houston.

An interesting fact about me is…

I still love amateur dramatics and have been to several shows, plays and pantomimes (oh yes I have).
