Here at WBW, we value every one of our team members. Each member of staff has their own stories, motivations and reasons why they enjoy working for WBW
Today we talk to Emma Oakley, a Private Client Advisor in our Bovey Tracey office.
What is your role at WBW and what area of law do you specialise in?
I am a Private Client Advisor and I specialise in Wills and Probate work.
What did you want to be when you were young?
A Paramedic
What was your first full time job?
Office assistant
What made you decide to practice private client law?
My sister was a qualified Solicitor in a Private Client department and she asked me to join her firm as a paralegal.
What do you like the most about the town you work in?
The close community feel. I like that people stop me in the street to say hello.
What has been the best moment in your career?
I was nominated for Young Lawyer of the Year and got to go to my first black tie event.
What are your top tips for clients?
Sit back and let us do our jobs.
What has been the most challenging part of your career?
Moving from a firm in Plymouth to the Launceston WBW office. It was the biggest and scariest challenge of my whole career. I have since relocated to the firm’s office in Bovey Tracey.
What’s the biggest misconception people have about your profession?
That we are equally knowledgeable in all areas of law.
What’s your favourite holiday destination? Or If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
Ireland. We had the best family holiday, and we were close to a beach that we had solely to ourselves.
Who has been an inspiration for you?
My parents. They have been the hardest working and most loving people that I know. They have taught me a lot.
If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
David Attenborough
An interesting fact about me is…
I love reading classic romance novels and my favourite is Jane Austen’s Emma.
