Why we love Chard…

Chard is a busy historic market town.  It is geographically the highest town in Somerset and sits close to the borders of both Dorset and Devon.  Chard is surrounded by beautiful countryside and has many lovely local spots to visit, including Forde Abbey and the Chard Reservoir local nature reserve.

There is a charming museum on the High Street, which highlights Chard as the birthplace of powered flight and a past vibrant wool and lace manufacturing town.

Chard is also said to have one of the most haunted houses in the UK, with the Choughs Hotel being said to have had many ghostly sightings.
