Estate Planning – WBW Chartered Financial Planners

Estate Planning and Inheritance Tax Mitigation are two different objectives, but a properly designed strategy designed to achieve one will also very often achieve the other.

  • Estate Planning involves making sure your estate is directed to the people you want to benefit either during your lifetime or on your death.
  • Inheritance Tax Mitigation means effecting the transfer of your estate, whether during your lifetime or on your death, as tax efficiently as possible.

Inheritance Tax is usually only an issue if the value of your estate exceeds the tax allowances available. Those can be quite complicated but could be as little as nothing or as high as £1 million.

Poor planning can either at best substantially reduce the amount your beneficiaries receive or at worst also compromise your own financial independence and security, in particular if your health deteriorates in later life. Our service is designed to avoid both of these scenarios.

Almost certainly you will require a combination of legal and financial advice. It is crucially important to ensure that the financial advice you receive is fully integrated with Wills, Trusts and Powers of Attorney.

Our team includes experienced and knowledgeable Trust & Estate Practitioners who specialise in this field. Both are full Members of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners. We will take the time to understand your situation, your objectives, and any legal advice you have been given. We will then design a strategy to achieve your estate planning and tax mitigation objectives, whilst prioritising your own financial security and working with your legal advisers as appropriate.

If you do not already have a legal adviser, we will explain exactly what legal advice is required and we will introduce you to a suitably qualified and experienced practitioner if you would like us to do that.
