Leading Devon law firm, WBW Solicitors, have taken the bold step to exhibit the work of talented artist Hermione Skrine at their Southernhay offices in Exeter.
The painter, from Crediton, has been exhibited extensively in South West galleries and her vibrant pieces are now adorning the walls of WBW’s Exeter offices, who only moved into their prestigious location last summer.
Hermione said she was delighted to have her work exhibited by WBW: “I was over-the-moon when I was approached by David Charlesworth. I think it’s great that a prominent firm such as WBW are supporting local artists.”
David Charlesworth, Partner at WBW and head of its farms and estates team, said: “I am a great admirer of Hermione’s work and knew her painting would look fantastic in our offices. We are very grateful to her for supplying her pictures and are delighted that clients and staff alike are enjoying these striking works of art.
“We are proud to be able to showcase the work of high-calibre artists such as Hermione,” concluded David, who is himself a keen supporter of creativity in the area being chairman of the annual Exeter Craft Festival and also a talented singer with the Exeter Philharmonic Choir.
Hermione paints directly from life with an emphasis on colour and rhythm, drawn to whatever catches her eye in the way of still life, nudes, portraits, plants and landscape. “Oil is my preferred medium, but I am also happy working in pastel and watercolour, and will draw with and on anything that comes to hand!” she said.
Hermione began her artistic career in the fashion industry which she said left her with an enduring love of pattern. She usually works with great speed and never from photographs. She also teaches various adult art classes and has illustrated children’s books, and is working long term on a book of ancient costume.
WBW Solicitors are based in Exeter, Newton Abbot, Torquay and Bovey Tracey and have 18 Partners and over 140 staff.
