Family circumstances are varied and different and no two divorce cases are the same. Where couples are in rented accommodation and have few assets there are plenty of DIY solutions now being offered, but if you are expecting custody issues, own a property, or have significant assets, these solutions are almost certainly not the right route. Divorcing couples should also remember that they have to budget for the unavoidable £410 court fees on top of whatever they pay to online sites. Around two-thirds of divorces do involve a financial order to share out assets, such as property and pensions. The split is generally agreed between the former partners or their lawyers. Comparatively few go to a full court hearing where a judge imposes a settlement but where they do, the costs can be enormous. These are the two extremes of the scale, most divorce cases fall into the middle ground and therefore do require some kind of support or mediation from external sources. Following the demise of legal aid for divorce cases, other that those involving domestic violence, fixed fee divorce packages have evolved to help divorcing couples manage costs and know exactly what they are paying for. At WBW we have a three tier system depending on your needs and the complexity of the case; Assisted, Supported and Represented. In the first instance we offer a 30 minute consultation free of charge so we can discuss the circumstances with you and advise you of the best route to take for a satisfactory outcome. Following this we offer a one hour diagnostic meeting with a Legal Advisor to give more detailed advice about your case and issues in addition to divorce such as financial matters and arrangements for children. The advice and the discussions will be confirmed in writing to you following the meeting. Prior to the meeting, we will provide you with a list of information that we need so that we can give you advice about your particular circumstances. Without this information, or with incomplete information, the advice will not be as detailed as we would like it to be. There will be a fee of £125 +VAT, payable at the time of the meeting. At this point you can make a decision as to which route you feel is the right one to pursue. With the Assisted package you will get our support and advice and we will review documents and applications so that they are all in order and we will provide you with a pack of information and guides helping you through the process. With the Supported package we will conduct your divorce or dissolution from beginning to end. If neither of these packages are the right one for you then we offer a fully represented service where we will deal with all the complexities of the case. The amount of work we do is reflected in the cost of the fixed fee package and it is explained in more detail here: https://wbw.co.uk/Additional/divorce-fam-pak-wbw-dg-030713.pdf?bf4381 If you would like to arrange a discussion please do contact one of our family team below.
