On Saturday 1st September two of our wonderful WBW colleagues, Nikki & Courtney, from our Torquay office walked 26.60 miles from Exeter to Babbacombe. The ‘City to Sea Marathon’ is organized to help raise funds for THHN – Torbay Holiday Helpers Network.
The Torbay Holiday Helpers Network provides free fun filled memory making holidays, to families who have seriously ill children, families who are recently bereaved.
We caught up with Nikki & Courtney to hear all about their experience at the weekend – “We finished! It was a fantastic experience, especially the first 20 miles with some lovely locations to walk through.
The last 6 odd miles were both physically and mentally difficult, with steep hills and never-ending sets of steps, but if it was easy it wouldn’t have been a challenge! We couldn’t have done it without the support of the fantastic marshals, the volunteers at the water stops and our friends and loved ones.
Mostly, we would not have been able to finish without the motivation provided by everybody who very kindly sponsored us, thanks to all of you who helped us raise money for this amazing cause, Torbay Holiday Helpers Network. Whenever we started to feel low we thought about some of the testimonials of families across the country who have been helped by the THHN and it spurred us on.”
The ladies have raised over £700 plus gift aid which is a brilliant total and will help the charity hugely in their efforts.
Nikki & Courtney have encouraged others to get involved in future charitable events, “If you like a challenge, beautiful scenery and meeting fantastic, enthusiastic and supportive people then we would wholeheartedly recommend giving the THHN City to Sea Marathon a go.” So why not sign yourself up for the next one?
There is still time to donate to this fantastic charity and help our lovely ladies in their efforts – https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/whatwerewethinking
Well done to both Courtney & Nikki, fantastic effort!
