Recent news stories have raised questions as to Bereavement Leave and a BBC report has investigated ‘Should everyone get paid bereavement leave?’
There is currently no legal requirement for employers to provide paid leave to those in mourning although workers have a right to “reasonable” time off after an “emergency involving a dependant” according to official Government guidelines.
An understanding employer may allow you paid time off or allow you to use holiday entitlement.
