Challenge how a public body exercises power
This is often referred to as Public Law and involves an application to the High Court, normally to intervene or make a declaration in connection with the decision of a government department or agency, local government or other public body acting under statutory powers.
The law says that these public bodies must not act unreasonably or irrationally, must act lawfully, fairly and they must consult properly in connection with the decisions that they make. In certain cases the High Court can intervene and compel an agency or body concerned to review its decisions and take a different course of action.
