Planning, compliance and reporting services
Most people feel that the UK tax system is unnecessarily complex and that the overall burden on businesses and taxpayers has steadily increased in recent years. Whilst it’s generally accepted that there’s little that can be done about indirect taxes, there is much that can be done to avoid other direct taxes; such as income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax.
In 2008/09 alone, the Government made significant changes to all three of its main personal tax regimes. As always with change, this presents financial planners and tax advisers with new opportunities to help their clients to avoid tax, with careful planning. As tax typically represents the largest proportion of a client’s annual expenditure, any reduction is welcome.
Considerable savings in both income and capital gains tax can be achieved by the careful repositioning of assets and by the use of efficient tax wrappers, such as Pensions, ISAs and investment bonds. Strategies which enable clients to better control their income, by definition allow them to better control the amount and timing of any tax liability arising on income or capital gains.
Inheritance tax too is seen by most financial planners and tax advisers as a ‘voluntary’ tax, which again, with careful planning, can be reduced, or avoided altogether.
We offer a broad range of Tax Planning, Tax Compliance and Tax Reporting Services, including:
Tax Planning
Both business and private clients are subject to a wide range of taxes, including corporation tax, income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, stamp duty, value added tax and national insurance. Our experienced team of Tax Advisers aim to reduce the impact of all of these taxes for our clients, wherever possible.
We recognise the importance of considering the implications of all taxes on a client’s circumstances and not just a particular tax which the client may wish to review. We ensure that any review is undertaken for sound commercial reasons, as well as for tax savings – strategies resulting on tax savings over the longer term are also employed.
Tax Compliance and Tax Reporting
We offer a full range of services in respect of either completing, or assisting clients to complete UK tax return forms. Our aim is to provide proactive advice to clients in all areas, in order to ensure that they pay the least amount of tax possible.

We work with our clients to improve their knowledge of the UK tax regime and to help them to understand how careful planning can make a material difference to their overall tax burden, without adversely impacting on the client’s lifestyle aspirations. We then devise a bespoke plan which aims to maximise their overall tax position, within available resources. We are pleased to work with clients’ other professional advisers (e.g. their accountant or lawyer), if this is felt by the client to be appropriate.
