Many concerns have been expressed in respect of bed blocking; so much so that Social Services are now required to reimburse money to the NHS if an individual cannot be discharged into a suitable care package.
With further cuts in Local Authority spending forecast at the rate of 26% over the next few years, it is crucial that when those in hospital are discharged back into the community, there are adequate discharge arrangements in place. Most importantly, it is equally important that an individual's needs and wishes are taken into account.
If you know of anyone who is in hospital and are facing uncertainty in their care arrangements on discharge, please do not hesitate to contact us.
