Usually you need to file a claim for unfair dismissal within 3 months of your last day at work.
Employees are entitled to ask for a written statement of their terms and conditions of employment after 2 months service.
Even if you do not have a written contract, you are still entitled to the following basic rights (amongst others):
- One weeks notice of termination of your employment for each year of service but up to a maximum of 12 weeks
- Minimum Wage
- Paid holiday (24 days for full timers)
- If you have small children you can request to work part time
- If you fall pregnant you have a right to return to your old job
- A right to request to work beyond your normal retirement age
