18/06/2012

In light of the busy sporting summer ahead, with the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games and the European Football Championships in addition to the usual annual events, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) has published guidance on sporting events and absence management.

The guidance outlines the various possible approaches that employers can consider to make sure that employees are able to make the most of the events without compromising the needs of the business.

As well as providing practical suggestions for ways of allowing sports fans to work flexibly so that they can watch particular events, the guidance reminds employers of the need to communicate clearly to staff their policy as regards accessing results or watching events shown live on the Internet.

The guidance can be found here.
