Just a reminder that the National Minimum Wage (NMW) and National Living Wage (NLW) rates are changing from the 1st April 2018. The new rates are shown below: Remember that employees can make a claim at the Employment Tribunal and HMRC (HM Revenue & Customs) can take employers to court for not paying the NMW/NLW.The new rate will apply to the pay reference period after the date of the increase. You should therefore be preparing for these changes by: (1) Ensuring you have the correct details for each employee, such as birthdays and whether they are an apprentice. (2) Checking what rates you should be paying to each worker as there are different rates for different categories of workers. (3) Updating your payroll for each employee to ensure that you are paying the correct amount.
