Buckland Athletic may have lost 2-1 to Western League leaders Odd Down, but they had the man of the match in Jared Lewington.

Lewington scored Buckland’s only goal and went close on a couple of occasions.

The award was handed over by Justin Osborne of match sponsors WBW Solicitors.

Mr Osborne knows a thing or two about finding the back of the net as he was a prolific goal scorer as a player with Totnes & Dartington in his heyday.

His career tally of 175 goals in the now-defunct Devon League was a record for the competition that can never be broken.

WBW entertained football-loving clients at the game as part of their commitment to supporting local sports clubs and other organisations.

“It was a tight, entertaining game and if Buckland had not had a man sent off then they would probably have come out of it with a draw.” Said Mr Osbourne.

“We were pleased to see that the attendance was over 100 and were happy to contribute to the ongoing success of the club, which will hopefully lead to promotion to the Southern League at the end of the season.”

“We aim to make the communities we live and work in stronger by supporting rising talent and clubs at grass roots level.”
